New York teen chokes his mother’s ex-boyfriend to death after seeing him beat her

A New York teenager who came to his mother's defence after spotting her ex-boyfriend beating her inside their Bronx apartment, has been charged with manslaughter for choking him to death, police said. The 43-year-old ex-boyfriend showed up at the University Avenue apartment around 4:30 a.m on Monday to talk to the mother, police said. The two argued in the hallway. He followed her into the apartment and then allegedly began beating the 37-year-old woman, police said. Her 18-year-old son, Luis Moux heard what was happening and then rushed out of his bedroom.
The teen allegedly fought with his mom's ex-boyfriend, pulling the man off of his mother, police said. Then he allegedly choked the man to death. Police sources said the mother, who had briefly passed out, woke up to the sight of her son standing over her ex-boyfriend.
Moux who is a football player at Grand Street Campus High School, a charter school in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter as cops are still contemplating whether the attack was self-defense.
“It’s not crystal clear,” a police source said. “It’s not cut and dry. There was a battle going on back and forth. It could be self-defense, but that hasn’t been decided yet.”
