A thirteen-year-old girl was killed and twelve others seriously injured after a man 'deliberately drove his car' into a pizza restaurant near Paris. The horrific incident took place in the town of Sept-Sorts, which is around 40 miles east of the French capital. French officials have said the driver 'clearly acted with intention but we have no reasons so far to suspect a terrorist motive'.
The younger brother of the girl who died is among four people who received serious injuries - a further eight sustained minor injuries. The male driver is thought to have 'pulled up close to the restaurant' in a dark-coloured BMW car, and then 'deliberately targeted it'. Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said on BFM television that the man was born in 1985 and is believed to have tried to kill himself last week.
A police official said the man is in custody and was psychologically unstable but had no police record.
