Family arrives home to walls splattered with blood after their German Shepherd attacked an intruder while they were out

A Virginia family came home to find their floors and walls splattered with blood after their German Shepherd attacked an intruder while they were out. At first Tristan Murrin and his mother didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when they walked into their Richmond home on Thursday night.  But when Murrin saw his beloved dog Oden waiting to greet them at the front door, he knew something was wrong. That's when he saw the drops of blood on the first floor. And when they looked upstairs, they found a scene straight out of a horror film.
'We looked upstairs and you could see trails of blood coming from upstairs, going all the way down,' he told WRIC.

Huge amounts of blood were also splattered all over the walls upstairs. Murrin said nothing was stolen from the home, and the intruder was no longer inside by the time he and his mother arrived. There had been several recent robberies in the neighborhood, but this time the only thing the intruder managed to escape with was his life. Murrin said that although his German Shepherd is a big dog, this is the first time Oden has been aggressive.
'He plays with the kids, the cul-de-sac knows him,' Murrin told the station.
'The community loves him, the kids come up to him and want to touch him and play with him.'
Murrin said he is proud that his dog, who he calls his best friend, protected their home.
'I think the dog did its job,' he said.
'He knew that someone was not supposed to be in my house and no one was home and he knows that [the intruder] wasn't supposed to be in there and was doing something that he wasn't supposed to be doing.'

'And so he knew to act upon it.'
Murrin said the family are now sharing their story in hopes it will help lead to finding the intruder, who they believe must have required serious medical attention.
He posted a video showing the gruesome scene on Facebook, where it has already been viewed more than 16 million times.
'My best friend Oden who is a German shepherd, protected my home and belongings when I wasn't there, I couldn't be more proud of him, Murrin wrote in the caption.
'Such an amazing breed that's why everyone who doesn't have an actual dog should consider on adopting or buying a dog. Please share and like to get the story out.'
Police have investigated the scene but so far no arrests have been made.
The intruder must be in great pain!
