Teenager uses baseball bat to kill his mother on her 39th birthday

A teenager told police that when he got up on the morning of his mother’s birthday, he decided to end her life, according to police in Florida. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 18-year-old Joshua Leon Carmona, after being accused of killing 39-year-old Tahirih Lua D'Angelo. Carmona was charged with first-degree murder, and was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. He was denied bail. According to the police investigation on Monday at approximately 12:00 p.m., Carmona willfully struck his mother with a baseball bat, knocking her to the floor of her residence at 6916 Hawthorne Trace. Joshua Carmona then took a butcher knife and stabbed his mother in the neck. He then fled the scene in a Nissan Sentra.
D'Angelo died at the scene. At approximately 9:30 p.m., a deputy observed Carmona driving the Nissan on I-275 and Hillsborough Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted, and Carmona was transported to the HCSO Criminal Investigation Bureau. While en-route, Carmona made a spontaneous statement that he had killed his mother.  During the interview with detectives, Carmona admitted that he had planned on killing his mother and stepfather for some time.  Carmona went on to admit that he killed his mother on her 39th birthday, and fled the scene.
