Lorry driver accused of killing mum and three kids in crash as he changed music on phone

A lorry driver yesterday appeared in court accused of killing four people from the same family. Tomasz Kroker, 30, was allegedly using his mobile phone to change music in his cab when he ploughed into stationary cars . Tracey Houghton, 45, died in the resulting collision alongside her sons Ethan, 13, Josh, 11, and step-daughter Aimee Goldsmith, 11. Her partner and Aimee's father Mark Goldsmith witnessed the crash as he travelled back from their holiday in another vehicle.

Kroker, who stood in the dock at Reading Crown Court wearing a grey jumper and light blue jeans, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. The dad-of-one has been charged with causing four deaths by dangerous driving and a single count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The offences relate to the horror pileup on the A34 in Oxfordshire on August 10. Four lorries and four cars were involved in the fatal crash which killed the mum and the three children from Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
If convicted of the charges, Kroker, of Andover, Hants., could face up to nine years in prison. He will next appear at Reading Crown Court on October 10 and was yesterday remanded in custody.
