Japanese teacher who installed hidden video camera in girls changing room claims he did it for their safety

A teacher was arrested on a charge of trespassing after being accused of installing a hidden video camera in a girls changing room, according to police in Japan. Saitama police said that they have arrested 52-year-old Nobuyuki Hataya, after admitting to installing the video camera in the changing room. In court, Hataya pleaded not guilty to one count of trespassing, claiming that he did it for the girls’ safety.
According to the police investigation, Hataya entered the changing room, which is used by female students to change into swimsuits, and installed a cardboard box with a hole and containing a smartphone. The phone was discovered by a  female teacher. Hataya later confessed to owning the device. He then used a hammer to break the smartphone.
