A father was arrested on a charge of murder after being accused of killing his daughter who was pregnant with his child, according to police in Nigeria. Ekiti police said that they have arrested the 50-year-old father identified as Williams, after being accused of strangling his 14-year-old daughter and burying her in a shallow grave. According to the police investigation, Williams was married and had four children with his wife. Several years ago, the woman left with three of her children, leaving the victim behind.
When the girl turned 14 years old, neighbors realized that she was pregnant. They immediately suspected her father of sleeping with her as she did not have a boyfriend.
When Williams was confronted, he denied the allegations. Williams then tried to poison the girl, but he failed several times. He then took her out on a field, where he strangled her. Williams then dig a shallow grave and buried the girl. Before Williams was able to flee from the scene, he was caught by neighbors.
Police believe that Williams killed his daughter to cover up the pregnancy.
