England women’s footballer fatally hit by train


Zoe Tynan, 18, who played for Everton and Manchester City before joining FA Women’s Premier League side Fylde ahead of the new season, was hit by a train and pronouced dead at the scene. Flowers have been laid in her memory at West Allerton station in Liverpool where the England U19 player is believed to have been killed. A statement from British Transport Police said officers were called to the station at around 4.15pm on Tuesday to reports of a person being struck by a train.
They said an 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman’s family has been informed and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
Her club issued a statement for Miss Tynan, from Mossley Hill, Liverpool, who began her career at the age of six at Liverpool Feds before moving onto Everton’s Centre of Excellence, spending six years there before moving to Manchester City last summer.
