University lecturer resigns after video of sexual harassment goes viral


A lecturer in the University of Ilorin, Dr. Mohammed Sani Idiagbon, who is also the Head of Department of English has resigned after a video recording of him sexually harassing a female student went viral. The victim, a 200 level female student of his department had gone to meet him concerning a continuous assessment she missed and that was when he stole the opportunity to harass her sexually. The authorities of the institution at first didn’t take the matter serious and were about brushing it aside but as soon as the video went viral, they had to act fast.
The lecturer was called before the disciplinary committee of the senate but he had resigned before the summons reached him. The school has come out to say that they are still investigating the matter and said they will offer protection to the student in question and any others that might want to come out and talk about such issues.
