Away tickets for Premier League matches to be capped at £30

Premier League clubs have unanimously approved a £30 cap on tickets for away football fans following an emergency meeting. The clubs reached the agreement, which will last for the next three seasons, less than a month after at least seven clubs voted against a price cap. In a statement outlining the change, the Premier League said clubs recognised that away fans are "essential" for match atmosphere and have additional travel and ticket costs. The statement also said the clubs believed a collective initiative was the right way to provide support for away supporters.
The league said: "At their last meeting, clubs unanimously agreed that more should be done to help away fans and, after consideration of a range of options, have now decided to introduce the new £30 maximum price for away tickets."
The decision comes after widespread protests against rising prices - including a walkout by 10,000 Liverpool fans protesting about a season ticket price hike at Anfield. The price cap will replace the Away Supporters Initiative (ASI) - a £12m pot of cash set aside by clubs in 2013 to help away fans with measures like discounted tickets or subsidised transport and food.
Arsenal - the club with the most expensive season tickets - announced its own two-year price freeze on tickets at the Emirates Stadium along with funding an extra £4 discount for fans travelling to away games, meaning they should never pay more than £26.
