Man marries girlfriend’s ashes for closure

Mr Lai with the dressed up urn of his girlfriend's ashes

A very odd turn of events has led to a distraught man marrying the ashes of his girlfriend after being so upset by her death. The man, known by the name Mr Lai, had a wedding in Hsinchu village, Taiwan, along with a farewell ceremony with their friends and family. It is thought he wanted to show his commitment to the woman even after she was dead - so married her ashes.
The ceremony, which shows Mr Lai clutching his wife’s urn dressed with incense as ceremony music plays. Mr Lai and the people attending the ceremony were seen wiping tears from their eyes in an emotional gesture, the Mirror reports.

Ghost marriages are not that uncommon in Asia, where a dying man marries a female corpse to keep him happy into the afterlife. However, dressing an urn in a wedding dress and having a ceremony like this one is slightly more unheard of.
