Father accused of allegedly killing son and feeding his body to pigs

Micheal Jones is suspected to have killed his son and fed the pigs with his body

Michael Jones, 44, is in the Wyandotte County Jail in Kansas held on a $10million bond. At this stage he has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery and child abuse, but could face more pending further investigation. Investigators think the dad beat his son, seven, so much that he died. Officers were called to the home in Piper where he lives with his 29-year-old wife, Heather Jones and eight children aged between one and 11. Police arrived following reports Michael Jones attacked his wife and firing a gun at her.
As the investigation progressed, someone told them to check for the decomposed body of a missing seven-year-old boy. By the next day, they were searching a barn on the property where they discovered human remains, reports local news station KPHO. A police source says investigators fear the remains are the result of the child being fed to pigs after being beaten to death. Those remains have yet to be identified.
Michael Jones has now also been charged with "torturing or cruelly beating" his seven-year-old son sometime between May 1 and September 28. The seven other children are safe and in protective custody.
A former babysitter told the station: "For all those girls to have to witness what their brother went through and to carry the burden that something happened to their brother is horrible."
The woman added Jones' wife added livestock to the barn recently.
"She went and got pigs in September," she said.
Wyandotte County District Attorney Jerome A. Gorman says the $10 million bond is the highest a judge has ever granted in the 34 years he's been with the district attorney’s office.
