Man charged for 31 year old murder case

Melanie Road, raped and murdered in 1984

Who would have thought its going to take 31 years before nemesis catches up with the murderer of then 17 year old Melanie Road.
Christopher Hampton, now 63 years old, has been arrested in connection with the rape and murder of Melanie Road, a crime committed over 30 years ago, thanks to a DNA breakthrough by the police.
17 year old Melanie was sexually assaulted and stabbed to death in Bath and her body was found by a milkman and his 10 year old son, after she failed to return home from a night out with friends in Somerset. Apparently after the night out, she decided to walk home alone, a journey that should have taken between 15 to 20 minutes before the incident happened.
The accused, a married father of three has since been remanded in custody by magistrates and would appear again in Bristol Crown Court on Tuesday morning. The 80 year old mother of Melanie, Jean Road was also in court along with Hampton's wife and children.

  1. I wonder how his family would feel with this accusations...especially if he is found guilty!

  2. Nice. Hopefully, justice gets served. In another 20 years from now, payback will be plentiful for those getting away with today's crimes :).
